Hazy Scene

Fog. All of it was unclear. The road was lost. The purpose was lost. It hurt to think, to analyse. Who? What? Where? How? Why? Hazy questions with far away answers.

A light flickering in the background fails to shed sense on the situation. Silhouettes danced and prayed to a forgotten god of old.

Pain and blurry vision. The eyes played gamed. The world turned and turned with no intentions. Voices came and went. Ideas were something of the past. There was no future, no time. Only the now, only the essence.

Dreams and reality mixed and drove reason into madness. The road kept blinking and changing directions. Madness reigned and then there was only darkness.

Sweet, unadulterated darkness. Without light there was no pain. Without reason there were no regrets. The fog helped and crystallised what clarity could have been but was not meant.

Laughter and tears were forgotten and the moment, that fleeting yet eternal moment reigned on.

Forever and a second lasted exactly the same. Relativity ruled while darkness reigned.

But the fog could not last forever. The cruel reality of life had to return as drugs dispersed and left the system. The brain blinked and covered its imaginary eyes for it did not want to wake up.

A moment in forever, lost the minute the eyes opened to the light of the hospital room.

Scene that includes a paper parasol and the word "greedy"

There was nothing like a cold martini after a long and hard work day. Especially one that was not over yet. He went into his studio to prepare his drink, reflecting on today's events.

The cold blast of air coming for the air conditioning was a welcome balm. He hated summers in the desert, but then, he was a greedy man.  All his efforts were paying off. In a few month's time he would be free.

He could already see himself having one of those coconut drinks with those silly little paper parasols in a lost beach in the Caribbean. What a pleasure that was going to be.

But right now there were unpleasant things his future. They were ugly things, but they needed to be done. Otherwise there would be no worry-free retirement. It was not going to be easy to get away with his plans, but his life would be ensured.

He finished preparing his martini and went to sit behind his desk. Papers awaited his signature; emails needed to be answered. Work kept him busy and preoccupied, but even then, he could not help but smile. As he typed in his personal computer, his mind was planning murder. How he liked that part!

Scene that involves a character's beloved T-shirt

And the worst thing that could have happened came to pass.

As if in slow motion, Anne could see as her sister tripped and fell. The saucer with ketchup flew up in the air and, by Murphy's Law, did the only thing possible that it could do: fall face down on top of the clean laundry pile.

With the worst of luck, it fell on Anne's precious T-shirt. Just the one she was going to wear tonight for her date with John.

Anne ran down to the pile of clothes and picking up her beloved T-shirt, exclaimed in anger and frustration, "Julie!!"

Immediately, Anne tried all the homemade recipes that she knew for cleaning stains. None of them worked! They just made it worse.

The stain kept growing and changing colours. In desperation, thinking the T-shirt was already ruined, Anne put it in bleach for half an hour. Meanwhile she took a bath and wondered what she would wear for her date. John was going to pick her up at any minute and as all women, she did not have any other good clothes to go out.

After getting out of the shower, she found that Julie had tried to help: she had blow dried the T-shirt. Amazingly, the stain and all the cleaning products had morphed into quite an awesome drawing of a bird-like creature.

The door bell rang. It was John.

In a hurry, Anne put the T-shirt on and went to open the door. She smiled with relief when John looked at her and said: "What a cool T-shirt you have on."

Prompt: Unusual type of Hybrid rosebush

White snow fell unheeded as Brittany stood frozen in place. She had gone to see her mother's recent grave but the marker was no longer there.

In it's place now grew a rosebush. And such a wonder was that plant that Brittany could not believe her eyes. It was clearly a rare hybrid rosebush. From each branch grew green leaves, seemingly dark in the falling snow. But the unusual lay in the roses.

The petal of each rose was coloured in a different colour. Each flower was like a rainbow that shone bright against the snow accumulated on the leaves.

Brittany was amazed and touched. The rosebush had grown overnight and such a sight to see. Her mother would have loved it. Such a fitting marker for her grave.

What had happened to make this happen she did not know. But she was grateful for this unexpected gift.

No one could cure the pain she felt for her mother's death. But this changed her spirit and helped her start the process of moving forward with her life.

Maybe her mother had sent this sign. Maybe miracles really existed. Brittany did not know what to think of this. What she did feel, as she turned and walked back to her car through the snow, was that she was no longer alone. The image of the rainbow roses dried her tears and left her with a smile on her face.
